The bulletin is a key edition of “Delphica” project. The research provides readers with regular steel prices forecasts with the three months depth. The new issue is available weekly on Fridays morning.
The bulletin is being issued in 2 formats: monthly and weekly. A detailed scenario for steel market development in next 3 months is developed at the beginning of each month. Based on expected characteristics of steel-consuming industries in main countries and regions, the estimation of demand for long and flat steel products is being made to form a scenario.
The analysis of capacities utilisation and volume of stocks, as well as seasonal factors, allows forecasting supply of steel products and thereby estimating the state of the market, the direction of order book changes for steelmakers.
The volumes of steel trade on the key markets for CIS producers are analysed as well. A comparative analysis of the cost of steel production for Ukraine, Russia and their main competitors (China, Turkey, etc.) is also being conducted. The main pricing factors (downward and upward) are being determined.
As a result, the base scenario for fob Black Sea price development (incl. average monthly prices for next 3 months) for each type of product (billet, rebar, wire rod, slab, HRC, CRC, heavy plate, pig iron and scrap) is being worked out. Unlike other publishing, the price forecast considers specification of the product and terms of shipment.
Following weekly issues contain a critical analysis of base scenario realisation with necessary adjustments, detailing and correction. A price forecast for the current month is given in weekly format.
